Terms of Service

Effective 20 October 2026. These terms govern your use of Stock Atlas at stockatlas.com and its APIs.

Stock Atlas is not an investment adviser. Nothing provided through the Service is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. See section 8.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

The Service is operated by Stock Atlas ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, generating an API key, or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation, and "you" means that organisation.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Stock Atlas provides programmatic access to a database of financial information derived from public company filings and market data, delivered over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an HTTP API, and this website. The Service is intended to be queried by software agents and applications you control.

3. Free trial, paid plans and beta status

Access to the data requires either a paid plan or the free trial. Specifically:

  • Each person may start one free trial. It lasts 14 days from the moment you start it and carries the usage allowance shown on the Service. Opening further accounts to obtain further trials is not permitted, and we may close accounts opened for that purpose.
  • When the trial ends, your account, API keys and connected apps remain, but they can no longer read data until you choose a paid plan.
  • You will never be charged without first agreeing to a paid plan and its price.
  • Paid plans are monthly subscriptions, billed in advance in US dollars through our payment processor, Stripe, and renewed automatically each month until cancelled.
  • You can change plan or cancel at any time from your dashboard. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the month already paid for, and you keep access until then. A change of plan takes effect immediately, with the difference prorated on your next invoice.
  • Payments are not refundable, except where the law requires or we agree otherwise.
  • If a payment fails, we retry it for a period; if it still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and access stops.
  • We may change plan prices or allowances. A price change takes effect from your next billing period after we give you at least 30 days' notice, and you can cancel before it applies.

The Service is also in beta. This means, expressly:

  • Features, data coverage, schemas, query interfaces and rate limits may change or be withdrawn at any time, without notice.
  • The Service may be unavailable, interrupted, or produce incorrect results.
  • We may discontinue the Service entirely. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice, but we are not obliged to maintain the Service indefinitely.

Do not build anything you cannot afford to have break on a beta service.

4. Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account and API keys, including activity by your agents, applications and end users.

  • Keep API keys secret. Do not embed them in client-side code, public repositories, or anything a third party can read.
  • Notify us promptly at support@stockatlas.com if you believe a key has been exposed.
  • We may revoke any key at any time, including on suspicion of compromise or abuse.
  • One account per person or organisation. Creating multiple accounts to evade rate limits is a breach of these Terms.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Resell, sublicense, redistribute, or make the data available as a substitute for the Service to any third party, except as output incidental to your own application's function (see section 6).
  • Systematically extract or mirror the database, in whole or in substantial part, including by paginating through it.
  • Exceed published rate limits, or issue queries designed to degrade the Service.
  • Attempt to access data, accounts or infrastructure you are not authorised to access, or probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission.
  • Use the Service to violate any law, including securities, sanctions and export-control laws.
  • Remove or obscure attribution required under section 7.
  • Reverse engineer the Service, except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live.

We may rate-limit, suspend or terminate access for conduct we reasonably believe breaches this section, and we may do so without notice where the Service's integrity or other users are at risk.

6. Your applications and your users

You may display data obtained from the Service inside an application you operate, including to your own users, provided you do not present the Service as a data feed they can query directly, and provided you comply with the attribution requirements in section 7. You are responsible for your application, for the conduct of its users, and for any claims arising from how you present or characterise the data.

7. Data sources and attribution

Fundamental data is derived from filings made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which are in the public domain. Historical price data is provided for free by IEX and is subject to IEX's terms for historical data. Where you display price data obtained through the Service, you must carry the attribution "Data provided for free by IEX".

Some values in our source material are vendor-derived and cannot be redistributed; we withhold those from the Service rather than pass them on. You must not attempt to reconstruct withheld values.

We do not grant you any rights in third-party data beyond those we hold ourselves. If an upstream source changes its terms, we may be required to restrict or remove data, and we may do so without notice.

8. No investment advice

The Service provides data, not advice. We are not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or financial planner, and we are not registered as any of those with any regulator. Nothing available through the Service is:

  • a recommendation, offer or solicitation to buy, sell or hold any security;
  • investment, financial, accounting, legal or tax advice;
  • a statement that any security or strategy is suitable for you.

Financial data is frequently restated, revised, misreported or misinterpreted, and automated extraction from filings introduces further error. Independently verify any figure against the original filing before relying on it. Any investment decision you make is yours alone, and you bear the entire risk of it.

9. No warranty as to accuracy

We work hard on data quality, but we do not warrant that the data is accurate, complete, current or fit for any purpose. Coverage is uneven, historical depth varies by dataset, and some values carry lower confidence than others. Where we expose provenance information, it is offered to help you judge reliability — it is not a guarantee.

THE SERVICE AND ALL DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST DATA, TRADING OR INVESTMENT LOSSES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, AND (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100). If you have not paid us anything, this means our liability is capped at US$100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of sections 9 and 10 may not apply to you.

11. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your applications, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Intellectual property

We retain all rights in the Service, including the website, APIs, schema design, normalisation logic, documentation and branding. Underlying facts drawn from public filings are not owned by us; our compilation, structuring and presentation of them is. You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the Service in accordance with these Terms, and nothing more.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.

13. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party platforms, including AI assistants that connect over MCP. We are not responsible for those platforms, their availability, or how they handle data you send through them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law or an upstream data provider, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your licence ends immediately and you must stop using the data, except for copies you are legally required to retain. Sections 7 through 12 and 16 survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give reasonable notice — by email to your account address, or by notice on the site — before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service.

16. General

These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
